3D Forensics
May, 2018
The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena (Thuringia) has developed a 3D measurement system that could help quickly and safely identify individuals and clues at crime scenes as well as in crowded public spaces. The high-resolution mobile scanner was developed in partnership with police experts as part of the EU-funded “3D Forensics” project. This combination of high mobility and high data quality offers many advantages over conventional evidence-recovery techniques, such as plaster casts.
