Bike Locks Made of High-Tech Textiles
September, 2018
Most of us have grown used to lugging around big and stiff metal bike locks. Dissatisfied with such locks, two Leipzig-based bike fans and product developers have come up with a revolutionary solution: the Tex-lock.
The locks – made of layers of high-tech, heavy-duty textiles like those in firefighter clothing and bullet-proof vests – are reportedly as strong as conventional steel locks. But they are also more flexible, lightweight and – let’s face it – attractive.
After successfully crowdfunding their idea, the pair won the prestigious German Design Award in 2018.
