Alliance of Rivals
May, 2018
BMW and Daimler announced this spring that they will combine their mobility services to offer a “single source for sustainable urban mobility services” – such as car-sharing, ride-hailing, parking, charging and multimodal/on-demand mobility – as well as to “ensure expansion of digital business models at both companies.” With the 50-50 joint venture, the two leading luxury carmakers aim to compete with other mobility pioneers, such as Uber in the United States and DiDi in China, by offering a “holistic ecosystem of intelligent, seamless connected mobility services.”
