Cargo bicycles are increasingly viewed as an efficient alternative for delivering packages in urban areas. As added benefits, they help the environment and our health by reducing congestion and emissions.
To raise businesses’ awareness of the delivery bike as a transport alternative, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has launched the “Ich entlaste Städte” (“Taking the load off cities”) initiative. Until December 2019, the project will offer companies and public organizations across Germany a chance to test one of 17 different cargo cycle models for three months at a very low cost.
Funding is provided by Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
