Cargo Bike Run Continues
The northern German city of Hamburg has extended a program to subsidizing the purchase of electric and conventional cargo bicycles.
As state subsidy programs go, the premiums introduced last year by the city of Hamburg for the purchase of cargo bikes was a huge hit.
In October 2019, EUR 1.5 million were released as part of a program designed to last three years. After just three weeks, all the money had been claimed.
So it was not surprising that Hamburg decided to extend the program this year.
The subsidies are available to companies and private citizens and covers 33 percent of cargo bikes’ purchase price, up to a maximum of EUR 2,000 for electric models and EUR 500 each for non-electric bikes and cargo trailers.
