Saxony-Anhalt is the state with the right mix: it is both an impressive industrial location and a good place to feel at home. Many subsidiaries of international companies in the state were able to prevail in the group-internal competition and brought expansion investments to Saxony-Anhalt in 2018.
Brandenburg, the economic and industrial belt around Berlin, has been a hit with British companies – such as Oxford Photovoltaics (PV). A total of 19 locations in Europe and the US had examined the technology company and then decided to start with the solar module development in Brandenburg.
Digitalisation and research – two crucial factors for the future of businesses played a big part in many companies’ location decisions this year. Bavaria offers excellent location factors in these areas, both for established companies as well as innovative start-ups.
“Saxony-Anhalt is an attractive business location for companies from all over the world. Since August 2017, he has been the new managing director of Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt (IMG), the economic development agency of the federal state. The prospects for this are good: Saxony-Anhalt offers excellent conditions for investment and a market and company-related business case investor’s service offered by IMG.
The investments of foreign companies in 2017 in Saxony-Anhalt underline that. Looking back shows that 2017 was a year in which “the chemistry was right”. Many of the investments came from the chemical industry. And they were benefiting from the synergy effects of the branch which is densely interlinked in the state and offers excellent infrastructure in Saxony-Anhalt’s five chemical parks.
