Formerly the grounds of the Industriepark Region Trier (IRT) between Föhren and Hetzerath were a station for French helicopters. The site now houses around 130 companies which have created nearly 2,600 jobs. Thus is IRT – founded in 1992 – one of the most successful conversion projects in Rhineland-Palatinate.
