Chinese Air Taxis in Bavaria
December 2022
Shanghai-based AutoFlight is opening its European headquarters in the Bavarian city of Augsburg. The Chinese start-up combined innovative materials with cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, automatized flight and 5G.
The focus of the Augsburg location will be getting the company’s Prosperity I air taxi certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). It will also serve as the young company’s European customer center.
“There’s an airport here for test and certification flights,” AutoFlight Europe CEO Mark R. Henning told the Bavarian investment agency Invest in Bavaria. “Augsburg is also located in a center of aviation expertise with both the universities of Augsburg, Munich and Stuttgart and lots of suppliers and other manufacturers. In keeping with that, there are more specialists and more talent here than elsewhere.”
