The transformation of Hamburg’s business development agency into a one-stop agency for investment has been paying off. In 2017, Hamburg Invest assisted nearly 1,200 companies (2016: 501) and helped with 123 expansion and settlement projects that together either created or secured almost 9,000 jobs and involved an investment volume of EUR 660 million. As part of its current efforts geared toward the needs of technology- and knowledge-oriented companies, Hamburg Invest established a dedicated startup unit in early 2018.

Bremeninvest recorded some impressive figures for 2017 too. The business development agency of Bremen assisted 34 new companies in settling in the city-state, helped secure more than 4,600 jobs, and had a hand in creating over 1,400 new jobs subject to social insurance contributions. What’s more, the agency marketed 57 hectares (140 acres) of commercial property, its best result in 15 years. Of the new companies settling in Bremen, 21 came from abroad, including 13 from China and five from Turkey. Bremen’s BAB development bank also authorized EUR 5.2 million in grants and EUR 20 million in loans.

2017 was the most successful year ever for the WFBB in terms of job-creation, the business development agency of Brandenburg founded in 2001. The company assisted 395 investment and technology projects that involve a combined investment volume of EUR 876.6 million and will create 3,826 jobs.
