Construction is underway. In September, ground was broken for Austrian lighting producer Eglo’s new industrial and logistics center in the eastern German city of Magdeburg.
The center is scheduled to open in 2021, and it’s expected to create 150 jobs. It will consist of 14,000-square-meter production hall and a 5000-square-meter, fully automated storage facility.
Eglo is a leading manufacturer of living-room lights. It says the expansion was necessary to keep up with the times. Increases in turnover combined with decreases in the in delivery times meant that the company had to react.
“For that reason we decided to supplement out central locations in Austria, Hungary and the Netherlands with a fourth one in Magdeburg,” explain Eglo Managing Directors Assistant Nicole Heger.
The Magdeburg location will primarily be used to serve customers in Germany and northern and eastern Europe.
