From Green Power to Green Fuel
December, 2018
The Dresden-based cleantech company Sunfire has developed an innovative, highly efficient technology to store and redistribute renewable energy – all while building on existing infrastructure.
The company’s modular and scalable PowerCore technology, a solid oxide cell (stack), allows renewable electricity to be transformed via steam electrolysis into carbon-neutral chemical energy in either gas or liquid form.
These e-fuels can be used for any industrial application that consumes fossil raw materials made from crude oil or natural gas – such as at steel mills, refineries or chemical parks – as well as in the mobility sector.
