Germany Tops in EU, Second in World in USNWR Ranking
US News and World Report’s annual list of the world’s best countries is out, and Germany trailed only Switzerland according to a variety of metrics. The criteria used by the American magazine were Adventure, Agility, Cultural Influence, Entrepreneurship, Heritage, Movers, Open for Business, Power, Social Purpose and Quality of Life.
Germany led the way in the category entrepreneurship, scoring a perfect 100 out of 100. It was also ranked second in agility, fourth in power, seventh in quality of life and ninth in cultural influence. All in all Germany scored 98 out of 100.
Politics and business are particular strengths. The magazine specifically mentioned attributes like connectedness to the rest of the world, a highly educated population and skilled labor force, political and economic influence, strong international alliances, and a well-developed infrastructure and legal framework as German advantages.
Rounding out the top five on the USNWR list were Canada, the United States and Sweden.
