Hydrogen Electrolyzer Maker Enapter Wins Earthshot Award

October 2021

Thai-Italian-German company Enapter has been given the “Fix our Climate” Award of the Earthshot Prizes, created by Britain’s Prince William. The award was made for Enapter’s modular AEM electrolyzer, which produces hydrogen for a variety of applications, including private homes.

“We are over the moon to be recognized by the Earthshot Prize, and their support in scaling production of our AEM electrolyzers for green hydrogen will enable us to have an even greater impact,” said Enapter cofounder Vaitea Cowan after the company was nominated.

The company has offices throughout Europe and Asia, and its products are used in 33 countries. It has just begun construction on a 82,000 square meter production facility in the western German town of Saerbaeck, which will have a production capacity of 10,000 units a month. Enapter has won a number of international awards, and founders Cowan and Jan Justus Schmidt were named to Forbes magazine’s 30 under 30 list in 2019.
