An American tech giant is teaming up with a Bavarian research institute to push forward artificial intelligence.
This May, IBM Watson and Bavaria’s Fortiss institute opened a joint technology center in the Bavarian capital Munich. “The decisive factor in making long-term progress in AI is a robust eco-system of partnerships between industry and research, said IBM Watson CEO Kareem Yusef.
The new center aims to develop IoT applications companies will rely upon to do business in the future. One particular focus will be AI-based assistance systems and secure control of autonomous robots and complex production systems. These will be designed to benefit not just larger companies, but also small- to medium-sized enterprises.
