Japan’s NSG-Pilkington, one of the world’s leading suppliers of glass and glass products for the architectural, automotive and technical glass sectors, has invested 30 million euros in its production facilities in the western German town of Gladbeck.
This summer, the facility’s production line was completely overhauled and equipped with the latest technology. Improvements to its glass smelting ovens will decrease its consumption of natural gas and lower carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent.
The improvements were also undertaken to make the facility more flexible against the backdrop of a possible global economic slowdown.
Pilkington Germany Chairman Christian Quenett sees the investment as proof that the Japanese parent company intends to maintain its Gladbeck location and the 530 jobs it generates.
