Japanese Investment for Berlin
July 2019
It‘s 9,000 kilometers from Berlin to Tokyo but for Michael Müller, the trip was worth it.
On a visit to the Japanese capital in May, Berlin’s mayor announced that Japanese company Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) would be investing more than a hundred million of euros in his city in the years to come. At the center of this investment is a 16,000-square meter computing center and an innovation laboratory to be built by NTT subsidiary e-shelter.
NTT ranks 65th on the Fortune Global 500 and is the fourth largest telecommunications company in the world in terms of revenue.
The NTT Group opened a subsidiary in Berlin in 2018 to coordinate all of the conglomerate’s business in Germany.
