NTT Data, a leading provider of business and IT solutions, has announced that it will open a new branch this spring in Erfurt – its first in the New Federal States, i.e., the areas of modern Germany that were once part of East Germany.
The subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation has rented a 380 sqm office space in northern Erfurt, which will initially house 20-25 employees who will primarily be helping customers advance their digitalization efforts.
Among the factors that made Erfurt attractive to the company was its central location, its excellent railway and autobahn connections, and the talented pool of potential employees in the local university landscape.
NTT Data already has locations in eight other cities across Germany. Since 2015, the company has enjoyed a rapid expansion that has helped its Germany-based workforce climb from 1,200 to 1,700 employees.
