At the beginning of the year, the mechatronics specialist Marquardt opened a new 10,000 sqm facility in Ichtershausen, Thuringia, to produce mechatronic products for the interiors of premium vehicles and battery-powered cars. The investment in the “Erfurter Kreuz” site will eventually create up to 180 new jobs in the eastern state, which is already home to more than 500 automotive suppliers.
“Thanks to the convenient location, the high level of industry expertise and the many qualified employees in the region, we have the best conditions here to produce the highest quality for our customers, to continue to grow and to create jobs,” said Marquardt Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jochen Becker.
Headquartered in southwestern Germany, the Marquardt Group has more than 11,000 employees at its 20 locations on four continents. In addition to the automotive industry, its electromechanical and electronic switches and switching systems are also used in household appliances, industrial applications, power tools and e-bikes.
