Berlin start-up MonitorFish has won the 2020 Change Award of the European Innovation and Technology Institute.
The company, which was founded in 2019 by Chaitanya Dhumasker and Dominik Ewald, has developed what it calls a “plug-and-play, cloud-based, intelligent fish welfare monitoring system,” ensuring that cultivated fish remain healthy. That increases outputs and optimizes costs of fish farms, the firm says.
The system uses underwater cameras and sensors to create a digital-twin simulation of live data and generates status reports and corrective recommendations to fish farmers.
MonitorFish has won multiple awards and has been supported by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. It also works with FTTF, the financing partner for young high-tech companies of the prestigious Fraunhofer Society.
