One source of the plastic waste that is increasingly endangering the environment, particularly in the world’s oceans, are detergent and cleaning solvent containers. German company Ecotab is trying to do something about that.
Ecotabs are dissolvable in water, eliminating the need not only for packaging but also for transporting detergents and the like in liquid form, thus saving CO2 emissions.
Ecotabs cofounder Nicolas Pless told Business Punk magazine that he came up with the idea after a visiting China and being appalled by the amount of plastic waste there.
Another advantage of ecotabs is that they are made of all-natural ingredients.
The company’s goal, Pless said, is to reduce the number of plastic bottles used by German households by one million a year.
