German companies spend an average of two million euros a year to revitalize used products. That’s the conclusion of a survey carried out by digital marketing company Bazaarvoice of 600 B2C marketers from Germany, Britain and France.
The expenditures come in reaction to customers’ demands for more environmentally friendly products. Almost three-quarters (74 percent) of the German businesses surveyed said they used improved materials to boost the durability of their products.
Only 20 percent said that they used recyclable packaging, but 60 percent told surveyors they intended to within five years.
31 percent came out in favor of stiffer laws to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly materials and packaging. At the same time, they acknowledge that passing legislation is a lengthy process and that consumers expected businesses to take action on their own.
