London-based challenger bank Revolut is opening a new tech hub in Berlin. Around 80 people will be employed there, including software engineers, data scientists, product managers and marketing experts.
Berlin is Germany’ start-up capital, and Revolut management said the city’s reputation as a hotspot for young specialists influenced the decision to locate there.
“There is an incredible amount of technical talent in Berlin, as we begin to scale our operations globally and expand our range of services, finding this kind of talent will be essential,” explained co-founder and CTO Vlad Yatsenko.
The Berlin team will be focused on localizing Revolut’s products and services for the German and European market while pursuing new projects such as an app for children.
