Uniklinik Essen, one of Germany’s university hospitals, is introducing a wide range of technology and processes that use artificial intelligence to improve healthcare and advance it on the path to becoming a “smart” digitalized hospital.
For example, thanks to algorithms that sort through and filter thousands of X-rays, radiologists can more easily identify rare types of cancer.
Digital appointment-making systems help staff devote more time to patients. Electronic patient files will help information and test results be shared more easily and reduce unneeded repetition of procedures.
And 3D mapping technology allows heart surgery to be performed more precisely, efficiently and effectively.
