Solar Shines Again
July 2019
The German solar power industry recovered from a difficult period to post almost 70% growth in 2018 compared with 2017. And that’s put smiles on the faces of those who generate electricity from the sun.
“The mood in the solar sector is excellent,” said Carsten König, chairman of the Association of the German Solar Power Industry at the Intersolar trade fair in Munich in May.
In fact the outlook within the industry is more positive than at any point in the thirteen years in which it’s been measured. Demand is increasing, and solar parks generating megawatt levels of power are capable of at least breaking even without state subsidies.
That’s in part because the costs associated with generating solar power have decreased. Double-digit growth is also expected for 2018.
