Tax and Football Startups Take Number of German Unicorns to 30
Taxfix, the largest German “taxtech” startup, joined the German unicorn herd after a USD 220 million round of financing. The company’s app helps users through Germany’s complicated tax system, promising that ordinary people will be able to do their returns within 20 minutes.
Experts see major growth potential for solutions of this sort as Germany increasingly digitalizes its tax system.
Onefootball cracked the one billion mark after a USD 300 million Series D, becoming German thirtieth unicorn according to German business magazine Gründerszene. The media platform combines everything to warm the hearts of football fans short of victories for their favorite clubs: match reports and broadcasts, transfer rumors, tables and profiles of players, teams and leagues.
“We think the future of football will be created decentrally, away from the stands and the pitch on the Web 3.0,” OneFootball founder and CEO Lucas von Cranach told Gründerszene.
Top professional clubs, including Manchester City and Liverpool, are involved in the platform.
