JX acquires HC Starck Tantalum & Niobium GmbH in Goslar
In early October JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation celebrated the incorporation of HC Starck Tantalum & Niobium in Goslar. JX is in the non-ferrous metals business and a core enterprise of the Japanese JXTG Group, covering the entire value added chain from the development of resources, smelting and refining, downstream manufacture of electronic components and recycling and environmental services. HC Starck Tantalum & Niobium GmbH is active in the development, production and sales of ultra-pure tantalum and niobium metal powders. Acquisition by JX will secure jobs in Goslar; JX Nippon Mining & Metals and HCS TaNb aim to focus more strongly on the market in IoT and AI.

New Amazon sorting centre in Garbsen
Amazon has opened a new sorting centre in Garbsen near Hannover. In the first stage up to 300 new jobs will be created there, and packages from Amazon’s European logistics network sorted by postcode at the 30,000-m2 facility to be sent to customers via distribution centres. The property, designed and built for Amazon by the Baum Group, has now been sold for €86 million to Korean investors.
