Roche invests 400 million in Mannheim
Roche has invested a total of 400 million Euros in their high-tech campus in Mannheim. This huge investment is a commitment to the region and the health care industry in Baden-Württemberg. In the last five years Roche has invested 1 billion Euros in Mannheim and is, with more than 8,000 employees, the second largest employer in Mannheim.
The investment includes five construction projects on the high-tech campus in Mannheim. Around 170 million will be invested in the new pharmaceutical production building, which is the largest single investment in the history of the Mannheim location. Another project is the construction of a new laboratory building at the site. Another chunk of the 400 million will be put into a server farm and the fibre optic infrastructure on the campus. Furthermore Roche has invested in a sales building with a virtual reality lab to show customers how their lab could look with a Roche system. The fifth project is a sustainable cold water storage which is the largest in Germany.
Lahr: Zehnder builds its new “Center of Climate”
The Swiss Zehnder Group has expanded its Lahr site with an investment of 17 million Euros. The new 5,000 square meter building will be constructed at the airfield in Lahr. The Center will include classrooms, live training areas, a showroom, a laboratory, meeting and conference rooms, office spaces and a social area for employees and customers. Three years ago the company invested 10 million Euros in a logistics center. From the site in Lahr the Swiss company supplies the German, French, Italian, Swiss and UK market. The company employs about 3,300 people worldwide, 600 of them in Lahr. Zehnder develops, produces and sells indoor climate solutions.
