Roche invests 400 million in Mannheim
Roche has invested a total of 400 million Euros in their high-tech campus in Mannheim. This huge investment is a commitment to the region and the health care industry in Baden-Württemberg. In the last five years Roche has invested 1 billion Euros in Mannheim and is, with more than 8,000 employees, the second largest employer in Mannheim.
The investment includes five construction projects on the high-tech campus in Mannheim. Around 170 million will be invested in the new pharmaceutical production building, which is the largest single investment in the history of the Mannheim location. Another project is the construction of a new laboratory building at the site. Another chunk of the 400 million will be put into a server farm and the fibre optic infrastructure on the campus. Furthermore Roche has invested in a sales building with a virtual reality lab to show customers how their lab could look with a Roche system. The fifth project is a sustainable cold water storage which is the largest in Germany.
Lahr: Zehnder builds its new “Center of Climate”
The Swiss Zehnder Group has expanded its Lahr site with an investment of 17 million Euros. The new 5,000 square meter building will be constructed at the airfield in Lahr. The Center will include classrooms, live training areas, a showroom, a laboratory, meeting and conference rooms, office spaces and a social area for employees and customers. Three years ago the company invested 10 million Euros in a logistics center. From the site in Lahr the Swiss company supplies the German, French, Italian, Swiss and UK market. The company employs about 3,300 people worldwide, 600 of them in Lahr. Zehnder develops, produces and sells indoor climate solutions.

Italian automotive supplier prepares for the future
The Italian Tiberina Group is investing 120 million Euros in Nagold. The subsidiary Wagon Automotive Nagold is building a 25,000 square meter production hall where 260 Robots will work in the near future. After four months the construction of the building has been completed and the installation of the production equipment can start. 100 new jobs will be created.
This strengthens the company’s strong presence in Nagold with a current production area of 93,000 square meters and 600 employees. Wagon Automotive Nagold works as a system supplier for sheet metal forming, car body construction and surface coating. This project is a good example of how the automotive industry in Baden-Württemberg is preparing for the future.

200 new jobs for Rheinfelden
The US Company Thermo Fisher Scientific has invested in an 8,000 square meter pharma services supply chain facility. For Rheinfelden the 35 million US dollar investment, which creates 200 new jobs, is one of the biggest resettlements of recent years. At the new facility Fisher Clinical Services, a brand of Thermo Fisher Scientific, will produce, package and distribute substances for clinical studies. Beyond that the company will build 120 parking lots and recreation areas for employees on the 26,000 square meter site. As an option for additional expansion Thermo Fisher Scientific can also buy the neighbouring site with a similar size.
