Nortal – driving forward digital change in NRW

Founded in 2000, Nortal is one of Estonia’s largest software developers with approximately 1,000 employees in ten countries worldwide. The company designs and implements digital technologies to optimize processes for governments, businesses and the healthcare sector. Nortal employs over 800 specialists who carry out high-impact projects across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America.

Nortal was successfully involved in Estonia’s digital transformation and has implemented a large part of the government’s e-services. In 2018, Nortal launched its first office in Germany in Düsseldorf. From here, the Estonians want to contribute to the digital transformation of Germany, including business areas such as industry 4.0, cloud services or big data analytics. Nortal is convinced that the company‘s experience in designing digital communities will be of great help for German firms to plan and implement their own digitization projects.

L’Oréal – deeply rooted in NRW

The French cosmetics giant L’Oréal has been based in Düsseldorf for almost three decades. In 2018, L’Oréal opened its new German headquarters in the state capital for 1,000 employees – a true commitment to the location NRW. The construction took just under two years.

The move also meant introducing a new way of work for the French company in which transparency, innovation and sustainability play a major role. The new building is a showcase for sustainability and sets standards in terms of a modern working environment: architecture and working culture complement one another, both being characterized by openness and transparency. The new L’Oréal headquarters is a role model for tomorrow’s modern and sustainable world of work and a real lighthouse project in NRW.

PICNIC – rapid expansion all over NRW

With the online supermarket PICNIC customers can order food from home without delivery charges. Founded only in 2015, the Dutch start-up already serves approximately 200,000 households in the Netherlands. PICNIC pursues a sustainable and eco-friendly strategy: from cooperation with regional supermarkets, bakeries or farms to a fleet of specially developed electric vans delivering the food. The routes of the vans are calculated by algorithms and optimized daily.

For their first international expansion step, the company chose to come to North Rhine-Westphalia. Here, PICNIC today already operates ten hubs with more than 600 employees in Bochum, Duisburg, Düsseldorf/Neuss, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Krefeld, Langenfeld, Moers, Mönchengladbach, and Viersen. The company is growing rapidly: the latest six delivery hubs started operations only between July and October 2019, emphasizing PICNIC’s immense growth activities in North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, the delivery service already reaches more than 60,000 customers and plans to launch further delivery hubs at additional locations.

Competence Call Center (CCC) – steady growth in NRW

Competence Call Center (CCC) stands for high quality call center services and offers internationally distinguished call center solutions. The Austrian company was founded in Vienna in 1997, starting its business operations with only 15 employees. CCC relies on highly professional training of its employees to offer tailor-made multilingual services, which include incoming and outgoing calls, e-mail communication and customer correspondence. Today, more than 8,500 employees at 22 locations in eleven countries are responsible for innovative customer communication.

In 2013, the call center provider launched its first NRW office in Essen. Ever since the company has followed a steady growth course. Over the years, CCC opened further branches in Dortmund and Duisburg, followed by a second location in Essen and meanwhile the fifth NRW office in Aachen. Today, the company employs over 2,500 people in NRW, providing call center services to international market leaders from around the globe.
