Digital Respiratory Treatment

August 2020

More than 600 million people around the world suffer from chronic respiratory ailments, with over 3.5 million of them dying every year. Inhalation treatments are one effective response, but only if they’re used properly.

To this end, German startup VisionHealth has developed an app, called Kata®, to ensure the procedures are carried out correctly. The app uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer animation and augmented reality technologies.

Turnover in inhalation medications for chronic lung conditions totaled EUR 64.8 million in 2015 alone.

VisionHealth raised one million euros in funding earlier this year to bring Kata® to the market.

This July, Kata® received the VISION.A Award in Gold in the category “Best innovation in the healthcare market”.
